Swedish law in 1996 made use of the grandfathered law, which only provided 50 years post-mortem auctoris (i.e., death of the author or unknown author and publication in 1944 or earlier). Thus this photo with unknown author was in the public domain in Sweden as of 1981 due to its anonymous authorship.
